Prospecting – Own Listings, Own the Market
It’s been said, the company that owns the listings within a particular market, owns the market. This statement has never been as true as it is today. Consider the graph above provided by the National Association of Realtors showing the sources home buyers use in their search for a home.
- 90% or more look online before making a purchase. What are they looking at? Whether it Realtor.com, Zillow, Trulia or one of thousands of other real estate websites, they’re almost always looking at homes listed for sale. What does this mean to you? If you don’t have listings, they’re not looking at your information. The best buyers are the ones contacting you about your listings.
- 87% of buyers use a real estate agent. Once again, they’re much more likely to find the agent because of listings the agent has in a particular area.
- 53% respond to yard signs. That’s right! You’re not getting these buyers if you don’t have any listings.
- 45% have visited open houses. You guessed it! You can’t have open houses if you don’t have listings.
27% have looked at Newspaper and print ads. Guess what most of those ads have? That’s right, Information about homes that are listed.
